Low Cost Spay/ Neuter/ Vaccinations
Low cost spay/ neuter and vaccination services are available for low income residents of Kitsap and north Mason counties. These services are possible with the very generous assistance of Bremerton Animal Hospitall.
. Vaccines are always recommended as feline distemper (aka: panleukopenia) and canine parvovirus are very prevalent in our area and can be fatal as well as very expensive to treat. If you have given your own vaccines, please be aware that veterinarians reserve the right to not accept them for spay/neuter services. This is due to the concern that vaccines may not have been properly handled during shipment and administration leaving the animal vulnerable to disease.
Female dogs cannot be in heat at the time of surgery. Female cats in heat can be spayed in most cases. If you suspect that your pet may be pregnant, please call and speak with us about the situation. Most vets will not spay pregnant pets without a valid medical reason.

They can make your pet miserable and the cost of effective flea control can be too much for some family’s budgets. To help out low income residents of our area we do provide individual doses of a major brand name topical flea product to the public. We purchase this product directly from the manufacturer and request a small donation to cover the cost of the purchase. This program is available during all of our normal business hours.
We will also be happy to discuss your individual issues with fleas in your home and provide you with guidance on what to do to help reduce your flea population beyond treating your pets. We have a flyer on a safer house treatment that is very effective and does not require the use of pesticide foggers which spread poison all through your home. Those are available in our office or as a PDF that can be read/printed from here.
Recommended donations for flea control doses are based on your pet’s current weight. Please verify your pet’s weight by visiting a vet’s office for a weigh-in or by weighing your pet on your bathroom scale. For fidgety or larger pets, weigh yourself then pick up your pet and weigh the two of you together then subtract the difference. This will give you a close estimate of weight.
Credit, Debit cards or cash is prefered. We offer upto 4 months of Advantage per pet, per houshold. if supples are low we will limit the amount of advantage offered.
Cats (must be 8 weeks of age or older)
4-9 pounds $2.00 (.04 ml)
9.1 pounds and up $4.00 (.08 ml)
Dogs (must be 7 weeks of age or older)
4-11 pounds $2.00 (.04 ml)
11.1 to 21 pounds $4.00 (.08 ml)
21.1 to 55 pounds $8.00 (2.5 ml)
55.1 pounds and up $12.00 (4 ml)
Rabbits (adults only) any weight $2.00 (.04 ml)
Ferrets (adults only) any weight $2.00 (.04 ml) two months

Rescue and Adoption
intake Since 2000 we have been providing a home like environment for cats needing to find new homes out of our current location. We currently can house about 26 cats and kittens in our center. Most of our cats have free access to the main areas of the center allowing them to choose their favorite hangout spots. Some cats must be housed in kennels due to behavior or health issues. These kennels are quite large by industry standards and provide a great deal of space for movement and play and all kenneled cats receive daily attention and affection.
Cats coming into our center are assessed for health issues, tested for diseases and updated on vaccinations as needed. We give them time to get to know us and our other resident cats before releasing them into the population. During this time we look at how well they handle petting, grooming, being picked up and carried and other things that help us find the best possible fit for a new home for them.
Please note we only accept cats at our facility and have no support services for any other type of pet.
How to submit a cat for rescue:
We only accept cats by appointment. Please call before coming in as we may not have space to accept your cat at this time
Cats coming into the center must be social and in general good health. Semi-feral kittens 3 months of age or younger may be accepted on a case by case basis.
If we do accept your cat into the center please collect any health records including rabies tags, vaccination history and microchip registration if a chip has been implanted. Bring some of whatever kind of foods the cat is currently eating and any toys, beds or other supplies that may help your cat feel a bit more comfortable during their transition.
We consider ourselves a no kill shelter. We do not euthanize due to lack of space, coat color, personality or breed of the cat. The only acceptable euthanasia
is for humane reasons to relieve intractable pain and suffering. Due to this we may not be able to accept your cat immediately. We ask you t to provide a $ 50.00 intake fee to help cover the cost of medical care and feeding.
Adoptions:
Our adoption process is very simple. We do adoption tours and counseling on all days we are open. We will ask some questions about your home, family and previous pet experiences and introduce you to cats that we think may suit your personal situation. We do reserve the right to refuse an adoption based on this interview and your described home environment at all times. We do not perform routine home checks but reserve to right to request one if we have concerns.
Our current adoption fee is $100.00 which includes being spayed or neutered, given basic vaccines including rabies, dewormed and treated for any other known medical conditions. Our cats are indoor only and all are litter box trained. We do not declaw our cats for any reason unless mandated by a licensed veterinarian for a medical reason.
During your tour and interview we will point out those cats that have known health/behavior issues. We believe that full disclosure of such things is always in the best interest of the cat and potential owner. However, it does occasionally occur that a hidden issue may surface after adoption. If there are problems, please contact us as we may be able to help with treatment and the information will help us counteract the problem for the other cats if necessary.
